I am a big fan of the #buildinpublic trend on Twitter. If this is your first time encountering this idea or term it is a way to publicly document and talk about what you are building with honesty and transparency.

I am a big believer that the real estate investment industry needs more honesty and transparency. In an attempt to practice what I preach, I intend to dogfood a small side project I made last year and keep a public spreadsheet up to date with marketing numbers from my Carrot website.

I wrote about the small side project (REI Scorecard) on this blog. This is a simple spreadsheet I created for real estate investors to track their marketing KPIs.

Why am I doing this?

I am becoming obsessed with documenting things I am working on. I would have found this really valuable when I was starting my real estate marketing journey. Everyone writes cookie-cutter blog posts that regurgitate the same semi-useful information in order to rank on Google. I always wanted to see actual data and insights.
