$500 Real Estate Investor Backlinks Test

Table of Contents

Real estate investor backlinks can be hard to come by. In this test, I will show you how to create some backlinks and what they will do for your real estate investor keyword rankings.

If you can’t tell – I like marketing in public. I publish a monthly scorecard, Google Ads results, and a Google Ads course on this blog.

So why not launch a backlink test for real estate investors in public?

The objective of this goal would be to buy 3-10 links to a specific page targeting a keyword and see how fast and how high the page rank will climb in Google’s search results.

Backlinks (also known as “inbound links”, “incoming links” or “one-way links”) are links from one website to a page on another website. Google and other major search engines consider backlinks “votes” for a specific page. Pages with a high number of backlinks tend to have high organic search engine rankings.

Backlinks are a strong signal to Google that your website has relevant content. If you consider Google’s entire business model it is built around showing relevant content to users searching for something.

The more reputable and quality backlinks you have the stronger the signal that your content is what a user would want to see.

Similar to reviews and testimonials – they are a search engine’s way of knowing what websites are credible and relevant and which ones are spammy or unhelpful.

The best way to build real estate investor website backlinks is through networking and relationship building. The right way to build backlinks is to reach out to bloggers and ask them to include your link in their content. This takes time and consistently following up.

I have personally built backlinks before. The amount of content you have to write, pitch, and close isn’t for the faint of heart. I was seeing a 10% close rate. If you have more money than time – you might consider paying for someone to write the content and do the outreach for you.

I have a full-time job at Carrot and a family. So I am looking for the path of least resistance and results that others can help me leverage.

For most website owners or business owners – buying backlinks is a function of time, money, and skill. If you lack time and skill but have money to invest in a marketing budget, this is a great way to increase your leverage.

Google is clear that paying for backlinks is frowned upon. If you have a ton of time on your hands, enjoy writing and networking – I would suggest you build your own links. It is an invaluable skillset and worth it (if you have the time).

Why you should subscribe and follow along

One of two things will happen with this test.

Scenario #1 – The backlinks will do what I expect (help my site rank) and you will see every single detail of the transaction so you can copy and replicate the success of your real estate investing website.

Scenario #2 – The test is a failure and you can learn from my mistakes and make sure you DON’T repeat them on your real estate investing website.

I see this as a win-win-win.

Win #1 – I provide valuable content for this blog

Win #2 – You learn something that will help your website rank

Win #3 – We support a business that helps real estate investors build backlinks to their websites.

Here is what I am thinking…

  1. Find a couple of reputable companies that build backlinks (posts content on blogs that link to my blog).
  2. Select a keyword I would like to rank for and use that as the target keyword in their writing.
  3. Spend $500 in backlinks that target the keyword.
  4. Track the keywords rank over the next 3 months.

It’s a pretty simple approach. I’ll list out the steps below in more detail.

A quick Google search will show return a bunch of companies offering these services. I would encourage you to do your own research. Once you find a service that looks good try another Google search – “brand’s name reviews”. If you find favorable reviews on their services or case studies – give them a try.

Here are 3 services I have used in the past.

  1. Fatjoe.com
  2. Loganix.com
  3. Rhinorank.io

Step 2 – Setup a keyword report

Carrot recently released an awesome update to its keyword tracking tool. I will load a couple of select keywords in this tool so we can track our results over time.

I am going to target brand keywords + a couple of the keywords I’ve seen results from in my Google Ads campaign.

This is a brand new Carrot website that I am using for this test to make it a little more clear what the backlinks do in terms of helping improve the ranking.

I debated how in-depth I wanted to go here. By publishing this blog post I am publicly admitting to buying backlinks and showing the proof. To me, the risk is worth the reward if it helps you with your Carrot website and real estate marketing.

For this test, I will be using Fatjoe and Rhino Rank’s services. They are competitively priced and I am using them together to speed up the results and to have the links come from a variety of sources.

You can see from the screenshot above that I have 2 links completed. They are from DA 15 and DA 38 websites.

The cost for these two backlinks was roughly $180 USD. Here is the invoice if you want to see how the service is broken down. I did pay for extra words to be written on the higher DA website

Step 4 – Wait for the results

Now comes the hard part, we wait.

It can take weeks or more for Google to find the bog post and recognize the link back to our real estate investor website. Building backlinks is a long-term strategy and isn’t for marketers looking to generate leads the same month as their marketing activities. For that type of marketing, you need Google Ads or Facebook Ads.

I personally like Ahrefs as a tool to check for backlinks. As I mentioned earlier, this is a brand new website with 0 links back to it.

I will post a screenshot of the current Ahref report so we can compare it to the results of this test in a month or two.

Real Estate Investor Backlinks By DA & Cost

If I am being completely honest – most of these backlinks aren’t great. I would be VERY surprised to see my website start to rank well with these backlinks.

Why?

Most of them are in scammy industries and completely unrelated to real estate.

I will write a review of each of the service providers I used at a later date but having links from the UK, New Zealand, and payday loans are not what you want when trying to rank for local real estate investor type keywords.

Learn from my mistake here

I would not buy backlinks from either of these services in the future.

However, I will leave them to see if this test/experiment works.

If I could go back in time I would have bought their higher-priced backlinks and specifically requested US-based websites and US-based traffic.

Now what?

I submitted my sitemap to Google Search and will wait until these backlinks are recognized on my link profile.
